Finally got Oblivion working with nHancer properly with these when using AA+HDR.

All they did was fix an issue with turning on sli with a 7300/7600 and added the new profile and what not. Not a big change since the last driver. But now they are saying that these will be the WHQL XP driver soon so I guess 163.69 isn't going to make WHQL for XP.

These work fine with 8800 setup but my 7800 sli rig not yet tried them.

I couldn't enable SLI on the previous ones though.

This might be for all 7 series maybe.

Yeah I decided to install them and they installed just fine. I figure these are the ones I should use because the 163.69 driver apparently did not make whql status and now the 163.71 driver is going to be the next whql. Of course unless nvidia decides to release another beta driver. I'm happy that nvidia seems to now be very active with driver releases and that is a good thing.

Yes and hopefully they're not making us download all new driver sets for what amounts to an updated nvapps.xml file...

Well I think you should use the 163.71 driver for the simple fact that the 163.69 driver did not pass whql testing for XP which would seem to indicate that they changed more than what is said in the release notes because the 163.71 driver is now the current whql candidate for XP. Of course this is just my hypothesis.

WHQL means nothing to games

driver could crash with 90% of games, but support windows desktop and it would pass WHQL

Duh, I know that. That's why I told him he should just download the beta now because it is supposed to be the next whql driver supposedly. Hence, whql doesn't mean anything. Of course, if you don't want to update to the driver and are fine with the one you have than feel free to keep it. I always for the most part use latest driver whether it is whql or beta. It doesn't matter. The only time I won't use the latest driver is when it has a bad bug in a game I play.

These break nHancer 2.2.3 for me. Gives me an nvapps error and crashes when I try to run it. Anyone else?

I decided WTH and installed them. These are pretty damn good!!!

Good performance and quality. (8800 on XP x64)

Don't even need nHancer for FSAA in Oblivion or BioShock.

Fugu: Look at the last 2 pages of the nHancer thread. Grestorn will be fixing this in the next version, it seems nVidia can't make up their mind as to which file to store profiles in. LOL

Umm, ok I need to search the Vista version thread before I post a bug in the XP version thread.

Anyway, edit nvapps from OS_TYPE="Vista">

To what?

Yeah, nHancer is broken for me too.
I dont know much about modifying the nvapps.xml, so what do I have to do? Modify it from "Vista" to "XP" ? Do I have to reinstall afterwards?

What a suprise! This driver significantly increased my frames in Bio-Shock. I wasn't expecting the gain I got. Good stuff.

Release notes didn't address this that I could see, but MOHA gameplay has improved for me with these drivers. Using.69's previously.

mmm
I have Flat Panel Scaling available with my 7950GX2.

One thing I noticed was some graphic corruption in SC Double Agent.

Apart from that they run pretty well game wise.
Very little difference 3DMark wise if that is your benchmark bogey.

cheers

basically what hes saying is, go to windows/system32

open nvapps.xml with notepad or wordpad

find every instance of OS_TYPE="Vista"> and remove it and close off the line.

for example <PROFILE Label="Splinter Cell 4 Online">

make it look like that
