I have just posted a review of the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 Sound Card.

Take a look and post any feedback here.

IMO the prelude is a big let down so far. Sure it probably does analog audio very good, probably better than any other gaming sound card out there. But the reason I was looking forward to this card was for its ability to handle digital features as well as the creative proprietary stuff that some games use.

That could change in the future though, but I personally don't ever buy anything based on future promises, rather I only buy it based on what it has at the time I am purchasing it.

Especially something from Auzen. The card itself is three months late to the game.

It's a total paperweight for me (and probably a bad one) without good quality fully free Linux-drivers. IMO good driver support is much more important than the hardware itself.

It is effectively just another creative x-fi card as far as the drivers are concerned.

A direct comparison to the Creative line would have been nice.

I missed what the price was for this card in the review, but after looking it up on newegg I was shocked. 230 bucks before shipping? Not a chance

2nded...elite pro sound quality would be ideal.

It looks like a great card on paper, but i'll wait for the DD-Live/DTS-live feature before I even think of buying it.
If it can have both the gaming prowess of the X-fi (EAX5) and output it on a coax/optic in 5.1/7.1, i'm sold. So, I'll revisit the question around Q1 08 if their planning is true.

Newegg often prices high selling hardware above MSRP, you can get it other places for around $200.
