ram:2gb pc6400 (i think corsair or kingstone)

Buy the z-5500s refurb and get the ultra, I think that mine was worth the extra cost. It OC's pretty well and I see a 8-15fps difference in most games stock vs OC.

By Novenber time there will be a new Nvidia card but I doubt* that it will be faster than the GTX/Ultra. I'd wait to see how well it OCs. ;)

Cliff notes: wait till November to make your Mobo/GPU purchase

Get an EVGA 8800GTS temporarily and step it up in November.

the high series of new geforce will be commercialized at first 3 months of 2008!!!
at November there will be medium and low series!!

I can't wait for 6 months because i wan't to play crysis with my full hd monitor

so if I took a 8800 gts, I could not play for the high requirements!!!:(

What can I do?

If you can splurge a little.. get a little more security, get the ultra. It has a few more hardware channels that can give that little extra omph. If you think your going to grab the next gen cards when they come out, then yea just get a plain gtx.

Get the GTX and OC it. Spending that extra money on an ultra is a waste and pretty stupid imo.

GTX is by far the best buy... and a beast of a card :D

if your into overclocking.. grab the gtx... if you want a "stock" pc with no overclock.. get the ultra

i prefer reliability/longevity to cheapness.

remember.. you can only have two of three

fast/reliable

reliable/cheap

cheap/fast

you can overclock anything, lol... its just about cost-effectiveness.

I don't want to overclock the vga because there is the risk to have some graphic errors!

the risk is not very high but...

now the problem is the monitor (1920x1200) and crysis naturally

maybe the q6600 will give me some advantages respect dual core ,I think...
but i'm not sure!!!!

lol...

they are running Unreal Tournament COMFORTABLY with the 7900...

you obviously don't understand HOW ADVANCED the 8 series is.. 8800 is untouchable...

the gtx without overclocking will be running games on high for years with a quad core and ddr3... and the ultra even longer respectably... if your not an overclocker.. i'd get a non overclocked ultra...

but its all opionated here.

don't worry... if they are playing UT3 with a 7900 on high for testing... pleaaaaase

Not true.

I have a few "friends" that are playing Crysis with SLI'd GTXs arent playing it on highest settings on 24" monitors :)

^do they have quad cores and ddr3?

lol... cause im talking about the card in conjunction with that hardware..

crysis is made to SERIOUSLY utilize multiple core technology.. so if they have athlons.. poopadoop!

so if I put a quad core with ddr3 supports, crysis will be good!!!

November for mobo/gpu purchase. Gimme a hint here, when should I sell the GTX before November so that I don't get "murdered" with the GTX price drop?

Yes they have quad cores and no on DDr3 but currently there isnt enough of a difference between ddr2 and ddr3 to justify the price.

crysis beta performance should not be brought anywhere in this conversation. The beta is not a reflection of the final version. Bottom line is buy the card that works best for "you" & your budget.
