Reason for selling:
Would like to purchase an inexpensive Via C7 powered laptop, I don't need a laptop this robust/fast for my uses. I'd like to use the extra cash (if any) for my new daughter. Not fun being broke.

Specs:
Slightly used, 1 owner, some signs of use on the case. No damage to screen, keyboard, etc. Only cosmetic scratches on case. Machine is 100% stable.

1440x900 acrylic screen, 17"
2.8Ghz Pentium 4 HT, 800Mhz FSB
NVidia Go5700 w/64MB RAM (AGP 8x)
1GB (2x512) PC3200 RAM
60GB 5200 RPM HDD
IEEE1394, USB2.0
Broadcom BCM4306 802.11b/g
10/100 NIC, RTL8139
8x DVD R/W / CD R/W
Licensed for XP Home, will shipped wiped with no OS. Currently runs Debian 4.0 'etch'.
Battery life averages about 1.5 hours.

If DOA/buyer unhappy will refund 100%, no questions asked. This is an excellent laptop and has been quite steady, fast, and stable.

I don't use Fleabay or Heatwave, so no real feedback to post. I did sell a Dell 400SC to six_storm without issue.

Quick Question, do you have pictures?
And how hot does it get? I've read that the 2.8s are notorious for heat, and side topic that's kick ass that you have etch running on it. I'm not a debian man myself but I've toyed with it (Command line only) in the past.

Props to eg on selling. I did buy his SC-400 last September and it was perfect!

I'll snap some pictures now.

I've got lm-sensors working on it with sensors-applet, right now I'm idling at 95F on CPU. Under load I hit about 133F to 136F, I've never got it above 136F and that's while using Kino and converting DV video to MPEG2. It's got two fans on the bottom, one for the GPU and one for the CPU; I believe they work in series.

I did replace the stock thermal grease with AS5 about a year ago.

FWIW, if you want to buy this and run XP Home, you can download the media and then use the cd key on the back of the machine. it's not technically legal, but the machine does have its own license.

seller is a great guy.

How much RAM can this thing handle?

It has two SO-DIMM slots each with a 512M module in it. It's upgradeable to max of 2G.
