Hi Everyone

I recently bought a 200GB WD HDD. I partitioned it and installed Windows.

The drive only seemed to show 130GB. When I asked Tech support from the place I bought it, they said this was normal.

I now find from one of your mod's that I can actaully get at more than this. (Something to do with LBA Limits to 137 or somat).

I found a site for intel chipsets http://www.intel.co.jp/support/chipsets/iaa/lba.htm

I think thats what I need or something, but unfortunatly I have an AMD board.

Can anyone help me out???

Thanks

Dan :D

here you go

http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/drivers/discwiz.html

note: this software requires you have SP1 for WinXP, or SP3 for Win2k. WinMe, 98, 95 are not supported at all. Also, the instructions make it sound as if you cannot start free with the full 200gigs, but instead setup Windows as 127gigs, then install the latest service pack, then use a program like Partition Magic to stretch the partition or use Disc Wizard to create another partition

i dunno, kind of confusing, read thru the site

No matter ....

If you have Windows XP and Service Pack 1 installed on top.

Service Pack 1 detects the rest of the space. You can then just extend one of your partitions to include the remaining space.

wewt, it works :D

<DanioJ> HD: [C:SYSTEM DRIVE] 6.19/9.77 GB [D:PROGRAM DRIVE] 12.95/20.57 GB [E:STORAGE] 97.61/137.34 GB [I:OTHER STUFF DRIVE] 40.34/74.55 GB [J:SERVE] 12.18/74.52 GB

C & D & E = 200GB Drive. Still not all the 200GB, but 170GB is better than just 137GB.

wewt again :D

if you can get a copy of Partition Magic, it has the capability to merge partitions and then you could have one big 200gig drive letter
