D8E turned out to be not the next generation chip, it will be a dual PCB in the form of GX2 so D9E will be the next generation high end chip due out in Q2 2008 but nothing known about the chip.

I don't think nV would do anything so stupid like this...

Not to release a new Highend card this November with all those AAA game titles.

I'm sure they will. I think it will be more like the 7800-7900 transition though. A few refinements, a few changes, nothing drastic.

that doesn't = new high end card. That is just re releasing the same card at higher clocks. Something Nvidia themselves already said they wouldn't do. They said the next card they would a new chip. Not some crappy refresh. But I wouldn't put it past them to lieing either. Its not like they have competition to worry about.
Welcome to slow/expensive advancements in technology... again. :o

Looks like they arent even releasing the "D8E" this year either. instead pushing that back to 2008 as well
Thanks alot CrApMD

Your english is beginning to read like Robocops. lol
Well it did = high end card when the 7900 was introduced.
Anywho, I, for one, would like to see them do a refresh this time around. Refine the process, make the same chips with a few extra features and higher clocks. Basically, add in the stuff that the 8600s got. I'm betting on D8E = dual PCB 65nm 8800GTX.
The main reason I would like to see this happen is for Nvidia to improve upon their quality and also it would give AMDTI time to catch up and hopefully make the market more competitive again.
If we dont start seeing leaked card/die shots by LATE December,I am grabbing an Ultra from eVGA.
Crysis might force their hand on this.

I just hope *something* is released this year that I can upgrade to so that Crysis will actually run ok :o

Yeah, thinking the same here.
I just hope *something* is released this year that I can upgrade to so that Crysis will actually run ok :o It will be, its called the QX9650. :)

Basically we're in the days where nVidia can release anything they want and get a quarter of a million video cards sold within a month. Good news for investors, but bad news for you enthusiasts.

Well, if nVidia get's SLi functioning properly under Vista then I'm not too worried. I'm quite confident that my two 8800GTS 640MB + my new E6600 running at (hopefully) 3.4 to 3.6GHz will play Crysis like a champ. Well, one could hope atleast... :o

+1 You get a huge boost with a faster CPU. just overclocking 200mhz gives me around 5-8fps more avg and really pulls you out of the low fps spots. I would imagen getting at least an extra 10-30fps with the new Q9XXX series over a Q6600. And more then that when quad core support is released. I would start looking more towards a new CPU this year and worry about a new GPU next year for Crysis.
If the dates are true and ATI can actualy keep true to the dates they said before. tri/quad crossfire and sli support might release around the same time. Aswell as ATI and Nvidias next gen cards shortly after. As much as I would like Nvidia to release its next card before crysis. I want a competitive market a bit more.
