View Full Version : Am I downgrading?

I did a little research and decided to get Promedia 4.1's sound system from Klipsch. I know how they sound (incredible). I don't watch DVD's nor do I do professional audio work. Loud speakers / good bass / mid tones is what I'm looking for. Mainly for gaming and music.

Price? $170 (free shipping).

Am I downgrading?

Well, uh, what'd you have before?

It depends on what you had before!

Secondly, I don't think you could EVER "downgrade" to Klipsch regardless to what you had before.

I have Klipsch Reference Series 7 speakers for my home theater and they are AMAZING!

I had "No Names" :p (GNT or something like it)
Sh1tty 2.1's heh

What I meant was you can buy 5.1's under 100 bucks, but those are probably not what I'm looking for.

I'm upgrading from 2.1 but I rather get 4.1's than 5.1's.
Hell I could get the $350 speaker set, but I wouldn't use its full potential.

The 4.1 Klipsch speakers are a great value at under $200 now. If you have the cash, I say go for it. For gaming and music you won't do much better.

logitech THX 4.1's and the klipsch set are both around the same price... :)

both good buys... if you got the dosh... splash on em m8...

better to get good 4.1's than weak 5.1/6.1 setup...

I have the Klipsch Promedia 5.1s and they are awsome. Even when I hook them directly to my cd player and run them in 2.1 mode the sound is amazing. If your looking for good sounding speakers promedias are a good buy, I am more than satisfied with mine. I assume the quality of the 4.1 model is equivelant to the 5.1.

Sound quality yes, but I'm not so sure about the speaker quality. Have you checked their forums? There are so many people complaining about the 5.1's. They said they fixed most of the issues with the 03 revision. You haven't had any problems yet?

As to Logitech, don't they have lower wattage?

Wattage doesn't make the speaker, volt...

well, you can always check out the Altec Lansing 251's but eh, I guess some people don't like em? Good bass, you can check around for reviews:D

5.1 for like less than $80 depending on where you shop, techsavings (http://www.techsavings.com/ProductInfo.asp?v=F8&idProduct=12747372) had them for $60 at one point.

But eh, I guess the low wattage might drive people away:lol:

They are presenting 'ok' despite the low wattage. My brother has 4.1's, they sound pretty okay but when you crank them up it's very bad hehe. Thanks for the input :)

What about this center speaker:

These main speakers:

And these surround speakers:

I'm sure these should be loud enough. :p

-Not to mention; you'd need an amp!

I have mine that way now (running to the amp) but they're focused on the fouton, and not the workstation. I used to have a nice set of 4.1's I could switch to until the speaker with the volume control dropped on the floor :( Anyway, the reciever/ speakers is a nice way to go for versatility. I have xbox, dvd, PC, and tv running through it.

Oh definetly hehe :)

I just went to bestbuy, but they only had promedia 2.1's. They sounded awsome though! I also checked out the Logitech 4.1's and they rocked too. But still I'm staying with my pick I think :D

I've got the Logitech 4.1s and they kick some butt...but I've also read some great reviews on the Klipsch.
