42'' 1080P LCD with Ambilight, looks pretty awesome. But a 7,000 USD price tag? I dont know about that.

Would you buy one of these or get a Panasonic 103'' 1080p Plasma?

Though the Aurea is pretty awesome, I'm not sure it's worth 7,000 bucks.

Now if they only had local dimming LED backlights, then that would be the ultimate TV.

Not way is it worth it. I have a Philips set with the stereo ambilights and they are pretty neat. I've had a lot of people who suffer from bad eye sight comment they feel great after watching a movie with the ambilights.

I do worry about the actual bezel lighting up though. Mine just projects in behind the set. With the whole bezel lighting up. Surely they would annoy the piss out of you.

Any DLP TV I have seen looked horrible. I'd never get a projection screen.

You can barely even see the edges of the screen when you sit in front of a 50 inch at 10 feet. The viewing angle is abysmal.

Well, this is new technology...no more spinning parts, no more stupid color wheels...plus, it's got an LED backlighting engine to allow for uniform color/backlighting as well as enhanced picture detail across the board.

I hate DLP, too, but these sets are simply stunning.

That Panasonic 103" dwarfs my 50" Panasonic 1080P. Now if only I could have spent $75,000 compared to my $1200 on my tv :)

I agree, and this is why I stayed away from DLP.DLP is a whole new animal compared to the crappy rear projection of old. They look great, have NO motion blur or pixelation like LCDs, and cost half the price. Best size vs price bang for the buck you can get. If I ever decide to get a bigger tv than the 42" I already own, I would consider another DLP without hesitation. :)

But then, to each his own. :)

My dad's current TV is a Samsung DLP but it's one of the old ones with a color wheel. It looks great for the most part, but man...I can see the Rainbow Effect and it gives me a headache and even makes me nauseous at times. I'm glad the new DLP no longer has it.

Nah, it's the from the line right before the current LED-based models. And he doesn't see it either...no one else in the family does. I've read up a lot about it on AVS and it only affects certain people. And I'm one of them. :(
