Sounds good, not many games play well at reasonable settings on my laptop anymore... sounds like this game will.:)

LOL, this may run on my other computer (I gave to my parents) which has a 3800x2 and 6200 turbo cache.

You know now that I think about it all the Unreal games when released were very well optimized. Never had a problem playing at high settings with current system requirements for there time.

that doesnt seem right... x1300 is like the equivalent of 6200/6600

Well, it's quite possible this one is even more optimized than previous ones. Gears of War was a good launch for the engine, and tons of 3rd parties have probably given tips back to Epic, plus the emphasis (more than the previous engines by far) on console development, where power is not unlimited.

UT99 ran like crap compared to Quake 3 when it was new (for me).

Thought UT3 was also DX10?

so recommended settings would be 8800

It supports DirectX 10 with some improvements in performance mainly, but "recommended" is just medium-ish settings, as their goal was medium level detail with a 7800gtx.

Damn. In all fairness its fairly disappointing. I love high requirements. It usually suggests better graphics

Agreed. This game may turn out a burry mess to satisfy the frame rate whores. :thumbdwn:

Framerate wh0res? :p

Christ, its Unreal Tournament. You're going to be spending 99% of the game spinning in circles... if it didn't scale well enough to run smoothly on a wide range of machines, it'd completely suck.

I've seen people play UT2004 on a crappy system at 20-30fps, and they sucked. When they played it on a decent system at over 50fps, they did much better.

I'm glad we're getting some games with reasonable requirements. It sucks when we can't get smooth framerates in games until 5 years after they are released (and visually outdated).

The recommended specs are never the best. I completely ignore system requirements.

UT99 ran like crap compared to Quake 3 when it was new (for me).

I remember back then the geforce 256 (1st one) had just launched, and i thought ut99 performed best in glide at first. Then the other 2 api's were improved, so I guess this will be like UT99 was in terms of improvements.

The improvements to the 1st ut were among the best improvements ever added to a game, imo.

I fear that nvidia and ati are going to cut down on this game's image quality, thru no fault of epic's.

Unreal Tournament 2003 and 2004 were insanely optimized and ran very well at max settings on even a modest rig @ the time I think this game will be in the same vein. Especially with the extra 6 month delay to work on it.

Ya'll, a game doesn't have to look like utter garbage to run well. If ANYONE can get a game running good on a PC, Epic can. The Xbox360 isn't the most powerful piece of hardware in the world, yet it offered news-worth graphics, better than any other game at the time (and maybe even now) while dealing with console limitations. :)
