So now i'm back to using the crappy 17" CRT. Thank god i had the foresight to purchase an extra 2 years warranty on the thing. By dead, i mean no longer displays anything whatsoever. They will probably replace it, but on the off chance i can get a refund, what would you reccommend for around the $600 - $700 range?

Might want to speak with nightmare beta, he's figured out the whole LCD market and is creating innovations in technology on a daily basis.

Really. You're missing some great comedy. :D

I'd recommend either one of the Dells or one of the new BENQs or Acers with HDMI.

There is also a nice cheap Chemei 22" with new added HDMI. If you get a refund that'll net you a decent no frills monitor with some left over.

Not really concerned bout money too much atm, still got $1000 left over from my car upgrades, but a 22" or 24" chemei would look sweet.

+1 for Dell. You can't beat the warranty or service.

why get Monitor with HDMI? when display port will be used to replace DVI.

The Gateway 24" HD Monitor is probably the best deal for the money.. + it's sexy looking!

You have a point. Plus DVI can easily do HDMI anyway.

We don't get them here, nor the amazing Westinghouse monitors. If you have the cash Dell and Philips are the best we can get. Usually followed by LG and Benq. Then we have Chimei and Viewsonic. Not the best panels, but definitively well suited for gaming.

Some of them. For some of the higher end LG, Samsungs etc they'll use a different supplier. Particularly to get higher colour depth, contrast and viewing angles that the Chimei's just cannot provide.

I was very tempted to get a 22" V7 today, but i found out that 28" Samsung for $890ish will be out in a month or so.
