One of my friends who I sold my GF4 Ti-4600 to is having problems getting it to run, and it appears to be the motherboard. He has a MSI KT133 motherboard (from Gateway) which you can find at the following address http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/MSI/2516164/2516164mv.shtml

His system has 256MB RAM and a 1GHz T-Bird. The BIOS is the latest BIOS from Gateway (dated in 2001). And a 250watt PS.

He says the card will work until he installs the drivers, then at the WinXP (SP1) Welcome screen horizontal bands, and other anomalies appear to where you cannot use the card, but the GeForce 3 Ti-500 he has works just fine. I've run through everything I can think of to get it to work except using a BIOS from the MSI website, and I have also had him try updating his VIA 4-in-1 drivers.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?

I don't know if it's the same problem, but on my KT7A-Raid, there is a BIOS on the Abit site that is for users using a GF4 Ti card under Windows XP. I flashed my BIOS before buying the card, which worked fine, as did the card, which is the GF4 in my sig.

In short, I recommend looking at the Abit web site (http://www.abit.com.tw) and seeing what they have there.

Also... a 250W PSU isn't really enough for an Athlon, AMD recommend 300W. Probably not relevant, but a thought.

Best of luck...
