What are the acceptable temperatures for a 8800 gts under load? I'm getting like 76c when play Crysis beta demo. And thats after about 8 minutes of play time.

That's fine. Seems high, well it is high, but not for these cards. I would turn your fan speed to about 85% though if ya aint already. Is a good balance between noise and cooling. Mine run at about that temp when OC'd to 620/925 (my normal OC). They just touch 80 deg at 650/1000 (max OC) after a good sesh.

How the heck do you get the fan speed to stay at 100% all the time? I set in Nvidia control panel, but you have to apply it twice to work. Then after you boot your computer it resets back to 50%.

Btw my card does not like to overclock just like my cpu.

I reach about 74' to 76' C with my clocks.

for me 70c is the limit.

my 6800(2005) & 7900GT(2006) died when they reached 70c.

So you're saying your limit is when your cards die?? ;)

Those cards are much cooler running cards, 70 deg for a 7900 is supermegatastically hot. Probably like 100 deg on a 8800.

My old overclocked 7900GTX maxed out at 58 deg when OC'd (I still say that is the best looking card of all time)

My GTS got up to 92c last night after one+ hour of Crysis @ 19x12 with 60% of the settings on high, and the rest on medium. This with no AA,and 2x AF.

I must say thats the highest temp i have seen for a gfx card so far! .... i wouldent like to think my card went above 85c under load ... although with my HR-03 Plus my load temp is 65c :p ... ill let you know the new temps when i finally play crysis!

Which way do you have your HR-o3 Plus mounted, up or down?

I have mine below the card so the fan blows cool air straight onto the ram heatsinks and the under side components! ... just seem right this way.

I like to munt it that way, but you waste all those pci slots. When mind shows up. I'm going to mount it up. Use 2x80 mm 84 cfm fans on top. And mount one of thse under the card blowing air at the bottom of the card.

That actually sounds like a good idea! ..... with the HR-03 on top and one of the above coolers below to cool the underneath of the card could result in nice temps! ... and as you said make some of those lower PCI slot available ... i could actully fit my sound card back in there lol, i might look into it.

What is that dual fan thingy called?

I just didn't like the ideal of losing those pci slots. I got my sound card there and plan on a wireless adapter. Mounting the HR-03 Plus underneath you lose about 4 or so slots. Plus I was thinking, heat rises and all your doing the way you mouinted it is blow hot air on to the gpu and ram. With it on top the heat will travel up the heat pipe easier.

Well i found out what the fan in the above pic is called! its a Vantec UV LED Spectrum Fan Card!

Sorry I missed you question. Heres where I found it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835888112 The airflow from it is about 29.50 cfm.

Thanks dude :) .... i was looking for it in england though, i found exactly the same cooler just a different name! http://www.thecoolingshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/939

That is a good idea, I like that setup and am looking to use it when i upgrade to a gtx this xmas. When you say "Use 2x80 mm 84 cfm fans on top" are you referring to the top of the case? I have an antec 900 case which has a bigass fan on top, would that work instead.

The HDR-03 + replaces the stock cooler right, I had a x800xl a while ago that had a cooler that looked very similar to the hdr-03+ and it didnt work very well, not it could have had to do with poor airflow in the case but the gfx card ended up dieing less then a year after I got it and during my time with the card it constantly overheated with just stock settings, I just don't want that to happen again, however I read reports of lots of people that seem to say the hdr-03+ improves temps quite a bit, just want to make sure if I do go this route to keep my gtx cool with some somewhat high oc that I don't mess up the cooling.

i hardly go over 65c load on a 35c day with 621/1566/2016 with fan @ 100%. normally i sit around 51-55c idle. Set rivatuner up for a 2d fan map, basically fan duty cycle against gpu core temp. There are quite a few guides out there for this, its very simple.

Another thing, pull the cover of the cooler of the GPU and blow/suck all the dust out, due to the centrifugal fan setup it collects a lot of dust. Usually after a good clean temps will drop anywhere upto 5c.

Up,with just the case fans providing air flow.

My card idles at 63c-64c and on load 76c to 80c. Mind you I'm not overclocking it.

The 2 x 80mm fans will be mounted om top of the HR-03 plus.

I always laugh at you guys when I read such crap. Idle temps are 62 load is 71 using the STOCK cooler. Best of all it doesn't turn my case into a inferno :D Just mount a slot blower under it and remove the stock heat sink clean it up and use some MX-2 with my special thermal technique and your temps will drop 10C at least!
