I have been having a lot of problems getting 3D to work
in Mandrake.
-my video card:
Geforce 2 Pro DDR 32MB
-my driver version:
the new 1.0-4349
-my distribution:
mandrake 9.1
-my video bios revision:
2.15.01.13.00
-my processor:
Athlon 1.4Ghz
-my motherboard model:
MSI KT3 Ultra 1.0
I got no error messages running the .run file, so I went into the XF86Config-4 file, changed driver "nv" to "nvidia", and made sure DRI and GLCore weren't in there. I then tried to start X. It told me that module nvidia was not available or some such thing. So, I modprobed nvidia and it loaded. I tried to start X again, and I got a black screen with one white pixel in the top-left corner. The logo screen didn't even show up. I couldn't break out of this screen with a Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, a Ctrl-Alt-F1-12 or Ctrl-Breaks. However, the LEDs on my keyboard still worked. No mouse cursor, either.
I rebooted, and started playing around a bit. I edited my 'modules' and 'modules.conf' file so that the nvidia module would load on boot. I started picking through the README file and reading the forums (changed driver back to 'nv' for a bit). I tried changing the option NvAGP from 1 to 2. No change, it kept freezing. I reinstalled the driver, specifying my kernel name (2.4.21-0.13mdk). Tried it again and it still won't work.
Does anybody have any ideas?? I'm getting quite frustrated.
