I need to ask a favor. Could some of you who own the game or have the demo installed take a screenshot showing your FPS at 1024x768x32, 32-bit textures, triple buffering, all details maxed, no AA and no AF at the following location pictured here (http://home.earthlink.net/~gravioli/images/wehaveahacker.jpg)? To show your FPS in the demo press F1, for the retail version type "showfps 1" in the console. Also, for those that are familiar with the game, this location is on the ledge near the US flag area.
Some people claim to be getting over 100 FPS with those settings at that spot. I would appreciate images from both Geforce and Radeon users. One person got over 100 FPS with a Ti4200 and 2000+ XP. My specs are in my sig. Seems odd that I would be getting almost 1/2 the FPS with the system I have posted in sig, especially since I get great performance in every other Direct3D game I play as well as in the 3DMark '01 and '03. If I am unique with regards to low FPS in this game, I would like confirmation so I can try to track down the problem.
Thanks for your help.

I don't have the game, and I've got a crappy box, soooooo ;)
But, I would imagine that it's a conflict between the game and certain driver revisions since Gib can run the game with TONS of AA and AF and still get 50FPS constant... and that was before he overclocked his Barton 2500+ (I think) to 2.3Ghz.
You tried reinstalling Cat 3.2s after running DriverCleaner?

Thanks for the reply Baron. The problem is, I can run the game with 6xAA and 16x Quality AF and get the same FPS, which leads me to believe the game is CPU limited. That screenshot I posted is at 4xAA and 16x Quality AF.....I was just to lazy to post a pic without AA and Aniso enabled, but the FPS is virtually the same. Anyway, here is a pic (http://nofearmx.home.attbi.com/JIZZLEBEAR_2003-04-10_16-12-00.jpg) of someone getting 100+ FPS with a Ti4200 and 2000+ XP. Maybe the image is doctored, but what's the point in doing that?

Ahha. Do you have the no-CD crack? Gib said it really helped his framerate in the retail version, but I think a patch has come out since then.

Yea, I am all updated with the 1.01 patch. Anyway, here is the thread (http://www.godgames.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=27;t=5467) in which I originally started questioning FPS in Vietcong. I found someone doctoring an image to show high FPS. However, somebody in that thread is getting the frames posted in the 100FPS shot above. He seems to think I don't know how to tweak/optimize the performance of my PC, which is not true. Anyway, I wanted to check with other people's experiences before I posted back at that thread. Maybe he doctored his image too.

Interesting thread.
1. You can't get somebody's IP through an email unless you go and crack the SMTP server. ;)
2. Sounds really fishy to me. Just remember--people are stupid, and these are probably the same people that try to hack their 3DMark scores. Comedy gold.
Wait for Gib--he'll either prove that It's Real or It's Fake beyond any sort of doubt for me. ;)
and erm. you do have vsync off, right?

Okay, I started this thread over at Rage3D and someone there with an 2000+ XP and Radeon 8500 is getting 44 FPS with the settings I asked. So, a Ti4200 would more than double his FPS? I just don't get it.
I would really like to see some GFX owners post some shots too. :D

Q: Is it my imagination or does the 4200 shot seem to lack any distance fog? (look at the tallest tree in the valley, directly in front of the hill).
It could just be that the perspective of the two shots is different enough to make it just look like this is the case, but if it is right, wouldn't rendering the extra fog cause a hit to the framerate?

His image is looking at a slightly different angle, but I went in game to see if that was the problem, and my fps stayed the same even looking at the angle he was. As far as the fog goes, I can't tell if it isn't rendering it. Although, my image does look a little foggier. But do you think the lack of fog would make his FPS 2x mine? The 9700 Pro must be a pathetic fog renderer.... :(

That is normal FPS for that scene. I average about 55fps in that map at ALL resolutions and settings. The game is extremely CPU loaded, turning on or off AA or aniso has almost no effect on framerate.
There are loads of people complaining about it at the Vietcong forums here. (http://www.godgames.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?act=SC;c=5) :afro:

Yea, I know they are complaining. But some individuals are pulling FPS out of their asses over there. :D

Some people should pull something ELSE out of their asses over there, like their heads. :D
