View Full Version : need some suggestions: headphone A/B switch

I have a set of 5.1 headphones for gaming and a set 2.0 speakers for general usage. I switch the O/S audio properties as needed.

I used the headphone jack on the speakers for the headphone front channel, but the female plug seems to have gotten broken and now the speakers are non-functional. (not cheapos either)

A simple y splitter was unacceptable as the voltage was halved between the two sets and killed the volume on that line of the headphones.

I want to find a simple A/B switch for stereo micro jacks that will eliminate the jack plugging/unplugging aspect when I replace the speakers.

something like: (only one I can find, I know there have to be more)

The only other thing I can find so far is a cheap radio shack model that uses RCA connectors (yuck), or excessive home theater level setups.

Does anyone know of a reasonable cost A/B headphone switch that uses standard audio stereo miniplugs (3.5mm) for all the connectors, so I don't have to plug/unplug to switch, or have to have tons of adapters.

a button press (solid state) is preferred but a mechanical dial/switch would be okay.

any other suggestions? please post links..

Make one out of your splitter and a switch. :)

Heres another on like that http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plantronics-Audio-Speaker-Headset-Switch/dp/B0001UR8AY

You can get a Y splitter with volume controls on each lead ,Would that still kill the voltage? They are crappy though, those sliders are horrible cheap crummy.
