In XP when you "Arrange by > Show In Groups" for a folder, you get files sorted by EACH letter of the alphabet.

Under Vista, you get whole letter ranges like A-G, etc.

Is there anyway to get Vista to Show Groups one letter at a time, or is this just another "feature" of Vista?

Anyone? Anything?

Was I clear in my explanation, or should I rephrase. Maybe screenshots? A full narrative? An interactive Flash site detailing the disaster?

;)

That's XP. Under Vista, the grouping would be A-G, H-M or whatever instead of A, B, C, D, E, F, U, M, A, G, U, S.

No, Don't think its possible... tried it but I can't seem to get it to set that way.

Vista probably adjusts it depending on how many folders you have. So for only a few folders it groups more letter together perhaps?

Nope. I've tried with 4 folders and I've tried with around 100+.

Hmm, I don't think it's possible. I did a bit of googling and it seems like there are many people with the same complaint. I tried playing around with it and can't see a way to do it either.

:(

It makes me a sad panda, as well.

BUT VISTA IS SO GREAT!!!

I can't wait for SP2. ;)

Seriously, though. I think Vista is going to be rocking by then. I'm hoping that SP1 is going to be more significant than its turning out to be, but I'm pretty sure it will be solid after SP2. I wasn't a fan of XP until SP2. Even XPSP1 was um... flakey.... IMO.

Oh well.... I can live with XP a bit longer.
