Nvidia website misleading customers
If you input Geforce 8800 GT as your card and Linux as your operating system the driver downloads selector on the website points you to the 100.14.23 drivers. These drivers do not work with this card and in fact there are currently no working drivers for this card under linux. Surely you should be directed to a page saying that linux drivers are not available for this card.
I have just purchased a 8800 GT for use with Ubuntu 7.10, before buying it I checked on the website to make sure drivers are available, it told me they were. So now the card sits in it's box, unusable. :thumbdwn:
I hope this is just an oversight that will be corrected soon rather than a deliberate attempt to deceive prospective customers.
I have tried to find an email for the nvidia webmaster or complaints but I cannot find one on the site.
Re: Nvidia website misleading customers
I actually bought a 500 gig HDD to install Ubuntu 7.10 on. I was about to install it before I stumbled upon the 8800GT threads.
Why are the drivers taking so long? They should have been out since the 29th of October.
