169.04 HDTV problems. Report attached

2 Attachment(s)
I have my HTPC connected to my Toshiba 57HX83 via component from an Asus M2NP-VM motherboard (I tried via the DVI but the TV was never seen by the computer no matter what I tried).

This is with Debian Lenny 64 bit and kernel 2.6.23.8.

When using driver 100.14.19 I get 1080i without too many issues (there is a bit of flicker on horizontal lines and huge overscan). Still, I'm happy it works.

Using the exact same xorg.conf and installing the beta 169.04 drivers I get nothing. Black screen. Reinstalling 100.14.19 fixes the problems.

Attached are bug reports from both drivers so they can be compared.

Is there any way to clear up the flickering while using the 100.14.19 drivers? Perhaps a refresh rate?

Also, while using XvMC and 100.14.19 playback is "jumpy" and not very smooth (CPU usage is next to nothing while using it however). It's smooth as silk if I'm using standard decoding in Mythtv.

Thanks!

I too am seeing just a black screen when using 1080i over component with the 169.04 beta drivers. X does properly start and is responsive, it's just as if the cables had been disconnected from the television, as it says 'no signal.' I also tried setting the screen to 1280p and 480p. With those I do get a picture, but its very blue as if the red and/or green cables were disconnected. Everything worked well under 100.14.19 (apart from the dreaded pink screen of death when using XVideo bug)

I saw the blue tinted screen as well. At 1080i everything went black. Very strange.

It looks like 720p is broken as well, I have a report attached in http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=102615 . I've tried 1080i, with basically the same results are you're getting.

I think that the component out was accidentally broken in the beta. We'll just have to wait for a later beta, or a hopefully fixed new stable release.

Does it work with DVI (or HDMI)? For some reason I cannot get DVI working with my M2NPV-VM motherboard so I can't test that.
