GeForce FX Go5200 & Suspend
Hi there,
I have the following problem: When I install the nvidia-driver 1.0.9631 software suspend to disk and to ram work flawlessly. When I install any newer version neither software suspend nor suspend2 nor the combination with common techniques (I tried e.g. s2ram with common parameters) work - as soon as the nvidia driver is loaded. The problem is always the same: the computer suspends and reactivates and is again reachable by ssh etc., but the display remains black. Only sometimes restarting Xorg brings back the screen, but this is no solution, of course. Worst problem is now, that the version 1.0.9631 is not compatible with kernel 2.6.23, but I need this kernel for other reasons. (Some problems with USB devices are fixed) My data: I have a gentoo system with most packages stable (except nvidia-drivers and a few others) uname -a Code:
Linux r054200 2.6.23-gentoo-r3 #4 PREEMPT Wed Dec 5 00:32:38 CET 2007 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.60GHz GenuineIntel GNU/LinuxCode:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34M [GeForce FX Go5200 64M] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA])Code:
Section "Screen"Are there patches for the old driver that make it compatible with kernel 2.6.23? Does anybody know why the compatibility for my card for suspend is broken in this version? (I know others experienced the same problem, but I know no explanation.) Are there possibilities to run suspend on my card with the newer version of nvidia drivers? Already a great thank for all who help me fixing this. Suspending is so useful :) Stephan Ritscher |

Hi there,
I just upgraded to nvidia-driver 96.43. Works fine, also with suspend! Greetings Stephan |
