169.07 Ubuntu 7.10 Fan at %100
Hello I just upgraded to the official 169.07 drivers and now the fan on the videocard is at %100 wondering if there is a fix for this or a work around?
Thanks |
Re: 169.07 Ubuntu 7.10 Fan at %100
I'm experiencing the same thing with 169.07 on Slackware 12. I have an 8800GTS 640MB. It lowered the GPU temp quite a bit but the noise is just too much.

Did a reboot fix it for anyone? |

Must be a driver thing... I only had this problem when I updated the drivers and it goes to normal when in POST as well as in windows

We reproduced the issue and NVIDIA bug #379270 was opened. Our team is investigating.

Same here with Debian Lenny (32 bit) and a 7900GTX.
Sounds like a leaf blower! |

Re: 169.07 Ubuntu 7.10 Fan at %100
You can control the fan speed on the 8800 with the latest CVS code for NVClock. (tested, using "-f -F 50" to knock it down to 50% in Ubuntu 7.10)
That said, please be careful until a real fix comes from nvidia. |
Re: 169.07 Ubuntu 7.10 Fan at %100
Using gentoo x86_64 here with 8800 GT
my fan was nice and quiet until I started compiz, but even after an X restart the fan is going wild.. can nvclock control the new 8800 GTs yet? |
Re: 169.07 Ubuntu 7.10 Fan at %100
Same in Opensuse 10.3 with an 8800 gts 320 mb , fan at 100 %
Hope on a fast fix :) |
