Already Back To MPEG2 ...Idiots.

Gonna wait for the movies to actually get released first... Fox seems to have any issue with saying mpeg 2 and it actually being something completely different for some reason.

yea, if theyve had discrepancies before, id wait til theyre actually released.

At first I was kinda turned off as well but then I remembered that several of the blurays with the most stunning visuals is in MPEG2. Let's wait and see...

have you actually seen the final Blu-ray print of 'Predator' or 'Commando'?

Fox could have chosen MPEG-2 for a variety of reasons: cost of AVC or VC-1 licenses, for example, for certain catalogue titles may not be worth the expense; MPEG-2 streams at 25Mbit/s or great may be sufficient for old(er) films, et cetera.

Hmm, wonder why Fox always uses the MPEG2 codec? People are probably going to buy these releases anyway so what does it really matter to FOX?

yeah i noticed fox has been using mpeg2 on most if not all movies. newer movies like men on fire, sunshine, etc are using mpeg4 avc.

Like I said... the boxes usually say Mpeg2, but it is actually avc or vc-1 (I think 99% of the time AVC).
