Very nice, lots of gaming potential:

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted here before. It was posted over at hardforum a looooong time ago. Developers should definitely take advantage of this!

It is in fact very impressive. It opens a new door in the future of games. Lets hope that some decent games are made , not cooking and dancing stuff.

holy crap, that's awesome! this could be great for sequel to elebits or even konami could use to create game similar to police 911 or namco's time crisis games.

impressive stuff.

Yeah but this isn't actually gaming on the Wii, it's using the Wiimote in reverse fashion as a vector dimensional sensor to control and move throughout a 3D defined 'window' space.

See Johnny's other projects using the Wiimote, some are just fantastic and really show how a small, cheap consumer controller can be used to do a wide variety of jobs - most of which are normally done using much more expensive and complicated hardware.

Would you mind changing the thread title as it's ambiguous?

Change it to something like "True 3D gaming using the Wiimote as a sensor"

Yeah that too! :)

Re: 3D gaming on the...Wii!!!

There's a few issues with what's going on there. First, the software is running on the pc, and not even on the wii itself. The second is that the TrackIR can already do this natively on a pc. http://www.gogamer.com/TrackIR-4-Pro...VVviewprod.htm

It's a cool concept but it would make more sense to have a custom solution designed for something like this.

The thread title is ambiguous mate, this has nothing to do with gaming on the Wii, check the link I posted to the guy's own site (Johnny, who developed this technique).

Yes this does what TrackIR does but it does it using cheaper technology without proprietary drivers and with C# source supplied.

I would really dig using this to navigate in Compiz.

how does it not have anything to do with gaming on the Wii? All developers would have to do is release a pair of glasses with their game and a holder for the wiimote at the front of the tv paired with a game that is programmed to take advantage of it. Even Johnny says at the end of the video that he wants to see some results from Wii developers.

Yeah but this technique and the others he shows using the wiimote are not specific to the Wii, nor do they demonstrate 'gaming on the wii' but rather various techniques to utilise the wiimote as motion and vector tracking controller for use a wide variety of applications including gaming.
