3d problems with Inno3d 6800GT
Ive recently discovered a bit of a problem with my card. I hadnt played any 3d games on my system for about a year but decided the other day to start again as I have a bit more time on my hands now. Im finding that, about 50% of the time, when running 3d games my graphics will freeze, usually resulting in a black screen with a cursor flashing in the top left of the screen. Pressing random buttons and hearing windows error sounds makes it appear that the computer underneath the blank screens is still working. Im getting no error's in the windows event log.

I am currently running the latest drivers (169.21) and have the latest version of directx installed. At first I thought the issue may be temperature, and looking at the nvidia temperature monitor thing I found at idle it was running at 85C, and during gaming would rise to above 115C. Seeing this I removed the card and cleaned it out and it now idles at 60C, rising to 75C at most during 3d gaming. I was hoping this would solve the problems but unfortunately they remain. Is it possible that the card hitting such high temperatures has permanently damaged it? One other thing I noticed was that my ram usage rose to 99% during half life 2 gameplay although this did not appear to make the video hang, 50% of the time anyway. I have 1gig of ram, although in the past with this setup it was never a problem.

Any advice appreciated.

Re: 3d problems with Inno3d 6800GT
It might be a power supply issue as well. Have you checked the power output of your PSU? Are it's voltages in the acceptable ranges?

Something worth looking into anyway...
