1.0-4363 still doesn't work on Dell I8200 with GeForce 440 Go 32 MB

Dear all,

as with the previous release, a native 1400x1050 resolution doesen't work on my Dell I8200 with a GeForce 440 Go, 32 MB. When X starts up, the mouse pointer is displayed properly, but the screen is unreadable showing only horizontal stripes. However, all lower resolutions than 1400x1050 work properly, but do not look nice. With the 1.0-4191 driver 1400x1050 have been working, but using the same XF86Config-4 with 4363 doesn't work.
I also tried different modelines, several options as described in the README, disabeling AGP, but nothing helped so far. Has anyone experience with 4363 on a Dell I8200, yet? I couldn't find any useful information in the XFree86.0.log (see file attached).

Can you try using the "UseEdidFreqs" option? It looks as if your panel wants a 60Hz 1400x1050 mode, but X is choosing a 75Hz one.

Hi Andy,

thanks for your reply. The UseEdidFreqs was among the options I tested. When I did that, I found in the XFree86.0.log a message like "no valid EdidFreqs found" and the SoftEdids were used instead. It seems to me that X
simply failed to "extract" the frequencies from the panel.
I also tried to force 60 Hz generating a modeline with gtf but it didn't help.
If nothing helps I'll continue to use the 4191 driver which worked fine for me.

To whom it may concern. I played around with some more options in the
XFree86Config-4 file. To summarize the results:

1.) the 1400x1050 panel on my Dell I8200 is recognized properly.
2.) Modelines with a refresh rate of 60Hz (see below) and also 75
get validated and used with the 4191 driver, but fail with the
4363 driver.
3.) The EDID frequencies are not recognized by the new driver. The
log file says that EDID is present but no freqs can be found.

Conclusion: Ther MUST be a bug in the 4363 driver, which leds to the horizontal
lines at 1400x1050 resolution.
