Intel e6750 to Q6700 Help?

My specs are in my sig, I was wondering if I will notice any benefits if I switch to the Q6700 Quad core? I play Games and thats about it. But will be adding another 9800 GTX shortly so will the Quad core be better or stay with the dual core? Any help is greatly appreciated. Or should I just get an e8400 or e8500?

Probably won't notice much difference in all but a few quad core optimized games.

Just higher temps and less overclockability.

No sense in any changes then I'll just add another 9800 GTX i Guess and throw 8GB of the Corsair 1066 dominator memory.

You might be even better off with a E8500 over a Quad core but depends on the games. Supreme commander, Cryisis, Half Life 2 EP2, MS flight sim & UT3 engine games are the ones multi treaded.

Right now I am playing Call of duty 4, Age of Conan, Guildwars and soon Battlefield Bad Company.

you will notice rather huge difference in Supreme Commander, Lost Planet, any UE3 games (stranglehold, Medal of Honor Airborne, GoW, few other...)

in UE3 games, in my case, going quad got rid of this annoying every 15-20 second stutter.

Unreal 3 engine is simply not optimized well.

Just get a good cooler and overclock your E6600. It should hit 3.2 or higher without any problems.

If you aren't overclocking, none of those CPUs will make a HUGE difference, though the quads will be better for encoding and multimedia stuff, and the 8400 will be better for most current games (higher clocks).

For the price I would go with a Q6600 and a good cooler ,I have the B3 version and I run it at 3.3gigs 24/7 and never had a problem. It will run 3.6gigs but it gets to hot because of the voltage increase.I can run it at 3.3gigs at 1.375v so it does'nt get to warm and I think thats pretty good for a B3 stepping and the GO is even better.

its easy to overclock just set your mem to 1:1 and raise the fsb in 20MHz a time run occt to check stability and a good CPU cooler.
if you like you can take my msn and we can chat their

so how much more will a E8400 do again E6600 in say Crysis WIC and such?

i get 68fps max on the bench with tweaks

is the E8400@stock 20 or more % fater than the E6600@stock?
