Display corruption with 6200 (OpenGL?)
2 Attachment(s)
When installing the nVidia drivers the login screen and intial desktop are clear. But the desktop rapidly degrades to unintelligable. Eventaully when redrawing lines or entire regions get stretched to the center of the screen leving it look fractured. I am not well versed in Linux display technologies but I suspected and mentioned OpenGL because the bootup and login screens are fine.

The same behavior is experienced under Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) where I've spent the most time investigating and also quickly under openSUSE 10.3 and 11. I've ehausted the sticky posts and an hour or two of searching the forums with no success. The only problem I had was I was unable to get the X server started with 'startx --logverbose 6'. I'll try and get that log but in the meatime I'd appreciate any insights, pointers or suggestions based on this bug report.

Using: 173.14.09, GeForce 6200 (0x0221), AMD Athlon and nForce2 with Ubuntu 8.04 and openSUSE 11

doesn't work for me too (openSUSE 11.0).

many people complain RPMs from nVidia are broken and compillation helped them (didn't tried, I use nv Xorg driver).
