What Kind of Power for 260 GTX SLI?

I'm pretty sure my power supply can handle two 260 GTX's, but thought I'd run it past some of you who have already run 8800GTX's in SLI and may know. I'm running a 700 Watt OCZ GameXStream Power Supply (see link for Amp/Rail info) with three HD's, DVD Burner and only one expansion card other than my Graphics card (audio). I don't think I'm pulling down that many watts, and I think I have enough 12v rails that I should be able to give each card enough of their own that there shouldn't be much trouble... although since the PSU comes with two 6-pins, maybe I should split that rail and another 12v rail with the adapters? Any comments/experience welcome.

You have power hungry components, but it should be OK. If you OC alot you'll be pushing it. If you've got the cash I would go for an upgrade. I can't recommend the Galaxy 850w enough, awesome PSU, but very long.

EDIT: In fact the more I think about it, I would upgrade for sure. 680i, Q6600, SLI 260's, that adds up to quite alot.

If I go GTX 260 SLi I am probably going to get the below PSU-

It's price is ok and it's small enough to fit well in my Antec case.

The place I was thinking of getting the 260's has this Antec PSU. Maybe that wouldn't be a bad option? I'm not familiar with the quality of their PSUs... and while I don't intend to OC the 260's (at least not at first), my Q6600 is OC'd.

JonnyGuru liked the 850 version of the Antec PSU you linked-

If I had space in my case I'd probably get the Corsair-

And it's a tad too long. IMO the Antec you are interested in should do fine. A lot of people seem to like Silverstone DA PSUs and Thermaltake Toughpowers as well.

My 700 Watt OCZ GameXStream can run 2 7800GTX in SLI just fine, but it is with a nforce and E6600 overclocked.. i think it would be better to upgrade to a newer PSU that has many 6 pin and 8 pins PCIe cables..

Thanks, I figured the OCZ was a good PSU but I decided yesterday to go try and snag those two 260's and the 1Kw PSU from Antec. They didn't have the 260's in (damn, hoping maybe today) but I did work late last night putting in the new Antec Truepower Quattro 1000watt PSU into my beast, plus moved my HD's around (realized that a second 620 will be a little tight with the HDs on the bottom) and managed to route cables outside the case and back in so it looks much neater. Seems like a nice PSU so far...

1 Attachment(s)
Well, they came in this afternoon and I was finally able to install them. So far so good... played some Call of Juarez in 1920x1200 4xAA DX10 full details and it ran so smooth, couldn't really play DX10 mode with my single 8800GTX. Those things sure fill up a case, though ;)
