New screens from Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising

Finally, some real in-game screens. The game doesn't look good as the obviously pre-rendered shots, but still, the game play is what matters the most.:D

In all honesty what I see here is a fairly average (if not poor) looking game with excessive touchups made for the sake of PR. Typical Codemasters style, I know, but can't we just get ONE stock straight-out-of-the-game screenshot of OFP2? At this point I half expect the final game to ship with a copy of Photoshop and a Codemasters employee that sits there and touches up screenshots in real time to make you think you're playing some kind of really awesome game.

IMO (nana2)

*edit* What do I think is touched up? The smoke and explosion effects, the horribly unevenly blurred grass areas... Many parts of these screenshots just look out of place to me. Hell, if this is truly, really honestly what the final game looks like I'll be pretty bloody surprised!

I don't know if those screens are truely in game or not. But if they are I think it looks really good. Especially that first one.

For the record I don't see any effect there (the smoke, or the depth of field blurring) that can't actually be done in game nowadays.

I think it looks a little too canned, especially the terrain, besides the grass it's very blocky and there's no sort of advanced mapping techniques to make it pop out. The grass appears copied and pasted and doesn't seem to react to the environment. The distant trees look like simple 2D sprites but are blurred beyond belief to take attention off them. I guess my main problem with it is it doesn't look as "alive" as say Farcry 2 or even CoD4 (as far as the character models go). The fact that earlier target shots looked so much better, or were touched up even more to hide these flaws probably doesn't help either.

Hopefully it runs well, and has that ultra realistic and clunky feel that the original Flashpoint had, then it's a winner for me good graphics or not.

FINALLY someone got the lighting correct! Textures and models looks so so, but it still looks a million times better than any ut 3 game due to the lack of any yellow tint.

Can't wait for this - loved the the first one! ;)

where is my 2 km (4km in single player easily ... ) view distance ?

a javelin missile can be fired at 2km of any target. but it can't at less than 300 meter.
here, the view distance is not much more of that.

hey codemaster, change your wargame to urban wargame please. we can't play this crap.

The explosion looks like it was airbrushed in.

You guys do realise that this game is using the Dirt/Grid/Fuel engine right?

Look at any of these games & you will see how the game engine will look/run.
