Problems with installing Drivers on SuSE 8.2
I wanted to install the Nvidia 4363 drivers on SuSE 8.2. The installer said, that it could not find the kernel header files. so i installed so kernel-source. Then the installer built a kernel, but could not load it, because it does not match the linux-kernel. i think, that is, because i have the athlon.kernel installed, but the source for the default. here is some information about my system:
Athlon XP 1800+
GeForce2 MX 400 AGP
SuSE Linux 8.2
Please help me!
I'm not sure how you got into that situation. There should have never been any compilation since the nvidia 4363 installer contains precompiled modules for *EVERY* SuSE 8.2 kernel (and other major distros too).
When I tried it (Asus A7N8X and nVidia TNT2 M64) the installer simply placed the correct module into my /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB-athlon tree.
I suggest you uninstall the driver (NVIDIA..4363.run --uninstall) and try once more.
the installer said, that there is no precompiled kernel for my linux-kernel, then it tried to download it, but there was no one on the nvidia-ftp-site, too. and i tried it many times :)
I found a solution: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...threadid=11413
Now all is going right...
