(EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (Compatible NVIDIA X driver not found)
Hi there!
I have an annoying problem with the nVIDIA driver! Everytime I reboot my machine I get the message in topic in my xorg logfile... So I get some kind of low-res display in ubuntu... Solution: get to a tty, stop gdm reinstall nvidia driver, restart gdm everything is fine until next reboot... However, when I reboot and get that message "(EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (Compatible NVIDIA X driver not found)" I have the extension here: Code:
ls -l /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/I have a 64-bit system(ubuntu 8.04.1) I use the 64bit nvidia driver(have tried both installing 32bit compatibility stuff and not installing them, no differense...) I have tried nvidia driver versions: 177.67, 177.68, 177.70, now using the last... Anyone experince the same thing? Or have any idea what to try to fix? Best regards! Daniel |

Please read this:
http://nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46678 And this: http://nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72490 Just a guess, but you probably did not disable Ubuntu from loading the nvidia kernel module from the linux-restricted-modules package. Adam |

Okey, have made some of the changes suggested in those threads, will see if it works when time allows for a reboot :)
