9600 GT noisy fan (173.14.12 Ubuntu 8.04)

Hi,

I've got a 9600 GT and everything is working very well with the latest (stable) driver (173.14.12) under Ubuntu 8.04.

But, the fan makes really too much noise ... I believe it is at 100% but I do not have Windows to compare...

Could this be fixed ? Also, could nvidia release something to control the fan in nvidia settings ?

By the way, nvidia-Settings give me a temperature of 36° and nvclocks 19° ... which one is correct ?

Thanks

I'd really like to know if it's possible too. The fan is so noisy I think I'll no longer use this card since I don't play that much with my computer. I've managed to change settings so the card is supposed to use dynamic settings (I can check this into nvidia-settings), but it doesn't affect the fan.

It is possible to support this in nvclock but I haven't had time for it and I fear that I won't have time to add support for it anytime soon.

Okay, that's not cool but it's already great that you have done nvclock ;)

But do you know which temperature is correct (nvclock or nvidia-settings ) ?

The value I read directly comes from the GPU but it needs a chip-specific offset correction (it is different for each single GPU). I'm not sure how the mechanism works.

Ok thanks for your answer.

So, nvidia guys, is this a known issue ???
