Mitsubishi's laser TV goes on sale for $7000
Mitsubishi’s LaserVue LCD, according to the company the world’s first laser-powered TV, will be on store shelves at the end of this month and will sell in its 65” version for pretty much what the company promised – the price of an average 65” LCD TV. It is not cheap, but it may one of most technologically advanced televisions on the market many enthusiasts can afford.

The manufacturer claims that the LaserVue TVs offer about twice the color range of non-laser-powered LCD TVs. The 120 Hz LaserVues are promised to provide a brightness of 500 nits, 3D viewing capability and consume less than 200 watts, which would actually be only half of some other 65” LCD TVs. 65” plasma TVs can consume more than 500 watts.

I say no it's not watercooled but it overclocks well. :)

Never heard of a laser TV before. I'll have to read up one these.

I have to say, using lasers for anything that people are going to stare at for hours on end seems a bit odd.

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_tv

Sounds like this could be the way of the future. Its already pretty cheap for a brand new technology.

This year's show is particularly interesting, as we'll witness the world reveal of Laser HDTV, a new display technology that some have promised will deliver 60-inch HDTVs priced at less than $1,000 by the end of the year.

Heh, I don't even want or need a tv but a top quality 60" for $1000 would probably find its way to my home rather quickly. :p

The TV has a very small border, Looks good for multiple smaller displays, Or will they only come in 60"+ sizes?
