Best Free AV for Performance

Hey all,

I was wondering if any of you happen to know which Free AV has the smallest memory footprint while still upholding good security.

Right now I'm using Antivir, but I've also used AVG before it. I am just wondering if any of you know anything better for performance, thanks!! :)

So you'd suggest Avast for free, and if you were to buy one?? Would it be NOD32 like I keep reading everywhere?

Avast is good for free. Not a fan of AVG anymore and Avira doesn't have email scanning and tends to have annoying popups.

As for paid. Kapersky is good, but expensive and NOD just isn't what it used to be, the Security Suite I found was hit and miss and would do bad things to some systems it was installed on. ::(:

Yeah, I was using Avira, and the pop-ups were kinda silly.

So you say Avast is good for free but what about the paid for version??
