Mandrake 9.1 driver install

Hello all, I'm having a bit of trouble getting the drivers installed with Mandrake 9.1, KDE.

I downloaded and installed the Nvidia drivers (1.0-4363), edited the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file. But now when I run startx, it flashes the Nvidia logo, appears to load a red X desktop for about half a second, and then goes back to the prompt. Above the prompt all I see:
"...
Using vt 7
(II) [GLX]: Initializing GLX Extension

waiting for X server to shut down"

I'm using "startx --help" to type this message, and some OpenGL demos seem to be running fine. I think the drivers are working, but I just can't seem to get X to boot as usual.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply... I think this is the same as modifying the /etc/inittab file to level 3, but I gave it a try. After setting X boot to NO, reinstalling, setting X boot to YES, and then rebooting, I still can't seem to get into X normally.

Any other ideas?

That's worked for me on three different machines. Sorry that's all I got.
