Windows 7 64-Bit Issue - Return from Sleep

I installed the latest drivers for my Gateway T-1625 notebook. It runs perfectly except when I shut the lid and go into sleep mode. When I open the lid the screen comes back on and there are white lines running horizontally on it. Once I go to the desktop the white lines do not go away. The only way to get rid of them is to restart. Sometimes a screeching sound comes through my speakers when coming out of sleep mode as well. I had the same problem with Windows Vista 64-bit as well. This only seems to happen with 64-bit, not with 32-bit.

Same as the problem this person is having. Looks just like that for me.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, help would be welcome.

another bug for the 64 bit.

When media player 12 is installing, it corrupts .mp3 files. The workaround is to set your mp3s to read only.

Nice to know that there is a temporary fix for the MP3 Corruption Problem. I also read that microsoft is going to realease a fix for that asap, since it is affecting so many using the beta. Also I belive preventing Windows Media Player from updating your music files can also prevent it, not sure tho. The corruption was caused by updating metadata I think.

You are right, it updates the metadata, but you can't prevent MP12 from updating the files, because this happens upon installation.

Yes, there is a fix already out for it. If you click on the Link where you downloaded Vista 7 from, it's available for download there.

Instructions and Resources
MP3 files
When MP3 files are added (either manually or automatically) to either the Windows Media Player or the Windows Media Center library, or if the file metadata is edited with Windows Explorer, several seconds of audio data may be permanently removed from the start of the file. This issue occurs when files contain thumbnails or other metadata of significant size before importing or editing them. To avoid this, take the following steps:

To protect your MP3 files
1. Before you install this Beta release, back up all MP3 files that might be accessed by the computer, including those on removable media or network shares.
2. Install the Beta release of Windows 7; then install this update (KB961367).

If you do not want to install the update, you can avoid this issue by setting all MP3 files that might be accessed by the computer to read-only before starting either Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center or before editing MP3 metadata with Windows Explorer. To do this, in Windows Explorer, find the files, right-click them, click the General tab, and then select the Read-only check box. Once you have installed the update, you can safely reset the read/write status of your MP3 files to your preference.

I have used build 6801 for a long time on my Gateway laptop and have never had this issue (64 bit)

Very strange

Patch is already implemented in the latest updates, I have had no files corrupted, and if I did you would most definitely be hearing about it. I am also accessing everything from a vCloud at this point to ensure security and it has been working flawlessly to this point. I had to do a bit of troubleshooting at the start, but right now things are running fast and smooth. The update was imperative.
