Automatic display rotation?

Hello,

I have a "Asus P5N7A-VM" which comes with a "NVIDIA GeForce 9300 Chipset". I also have a monitor with a rotating pivot (FWIW: "Samsung TFT 2493HM").

Is there support to automatically rotate the display when I rotate the monitor?

If so, how can I do that?

There is no such support further rotation isn't supported well. You can rotate a display using xrandr but as you will notice performance of rotation this way is very slow. There is rotation support without xrandr (there is a Rotate option for the xorg.conf but also this has option has issues).

Oh come on, it isn't that slow. I use it all the time at work and it works fine for me.

FranciscoB, the main issue with automatic rotation is detecting when the monitor is rotated. Is there a switch or something in it that signals the PC when you turn it? If so, your best bet would be to find that and write a script that runs when you rotate it that executes the appropriate xrandr -o command.
