Freezes and artifacts with 180.22
 

Hi all,
it's the second time in two days, after installing 180.22, that something strange happens to the video output. A screenshot is attached. Before getting that, the screen begins to flash and everything is frozen. It takes about 20 seconds before getting the control again, and this is what I see after those 20 seconds.

Is that my nVidia card of my Dell laptop is breaking? I know of a nVidia/Dell hw bug in this kind of laptops, but this behavior never happens before.

it did it again... this time I noticed that caps lock and scroll lock were blinking... this is definitely something wrong...

CAPS and Scroll Lock blinking usually means Kernel Panic.

There are several reasons for those, please go through your logfiles and look whether you find something. Else try testing through your hardware (RAM, Harddisks etc.) and try whether this occurs with some drivers (wlan, nvidia, ...) disabled.

thanks NvFuchs... I found a thread in this forum of tens of people got angry in 8 pages of thread for the same problem (and only ONE answer from nVidia)... now I know that I am not alone... but this does not make me feel better
