newbie with error

Hi,

I'm new at Fedora10. And I was looking to install a nvidia driver. I downloaded the right driver and tried to install it. But it gave an error about an X server that is running and needs to be closed.

I don't know what it is, where to close it, .....

ERROR: You appear to be running an X server; please exit X before installing.
For further details, please see the section INSTALLING THE NVIDIA DRIVER
in the README available on the Linux driver download page at
www.nvidia.com.

I went looking on the site they gave but it is to confusing for me.

Who can explain it in simple procedure??

Ok after reboot I got things working but got another error

ERROR: Unable to find the development tool `cc` in your path; please make sure
that you have the package 'gcc' installed. If gcc is installed on your
system, then please check that `cc` is in your PATH.
ERROR: Installation has failed. Please see the file
'/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details. You may find suggestions
on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux
driver download page at www.nvidia.com.

gcc is that a program?

What does 'cc in your path' mean and how do I set thing right?
