Is it worth it to get back into wow?

I have a 70 hunter (main) and 54 priest that I still have but haven't played in a long while. Is it worth it to come back to this junk again? I mean is it more casual friendly? Explain plz and I know WoW lingo or whatever so just lemme know.

Thanks!:)

When did you leave? Wow has been casual friendly for quite awhile now.

I like wow and all, but to people that are currently clean, I would say STAY CLEAN!

The game has a lot going for it, but there is a lot more of the same.

I mean the quests they have there are better done, the instances are fairly well done. The starter raids they have are fairly accessible, more so than kara was in tbc.

If you want to be a total shut in, go for it.
It is truly more of the same, but easier.
Time = success in it anymore. It really takes little to no skill.

Yea I understand, I just want to be able to not have to play the darn game all the time. I remember being on a call list for THIS STUPID GAME!!! Being on call for something that you're paying for is completely and utterly wrong. I will NOT do that again, plus the GM was a complete douchebag and I mean it was bad.

So anyhow, I just want to get some real decent gear and be able to customize it as much as I would like. It doesn't have to be the top of the line but at least good enough where I can own the crap out of PVP if I want.

If you want PvP mainly, give Warhammer a shot.

I'm playing it very casually on an Open RvR server. There is world PvP (they call it RvR) everywhere.

V3rn, well I am surprised you didnt find much new in 2 hours.. but then solo questing IS solo questing. It can be a bit of a drag but it was quite fun the first time through imo. Wotlk easily makes questing your main form of gaining xp (ie.. finishing a quest takes little time), but still managed to take about the same amount of time as BC did. I know alot of things during leveling were enjoyable thanks to being able to use all the new skills and talents given in the 3.0 makeover (not to be mistaken with the LACK of skills given out from level 71-79), and 3.1 is introducing even more goodies.

If you have the skill, you should obviously have an advantage in pvp if you lack gear... but it would be stupid to think skill can completely absolve your from gearing up and you can bet your ass there are people out there who are both skilled and incredibly geared. Also alot of classes power in pvp have been increased, so you can't just ignore any one class now.

Warhammer prolly does do pvp better, but wow does have alot more people.

Guild wars, if you truly are an rpg fan you should own this. Theres no monthly fee and its a damn good rpg game. You may even dig its awesomly balanced PvP. But if gearing up is your thing then pass. Theres not a whole lot of room for customization aside from coloring yourself, and equipment stats are pretty level accross the bored. There is no buying uber armors to makeup for skill in this game, pvp is ALL skill. It still has many players and guilds thanks to the little bonus of never losing subscribers, but its popularity is on the downswing.

Re: Is it worth it to get back into wow?

Well the reason I was thinking of getting back to this game is because I'm just getting a little bored waiting for Diablo 3 and some other games to come out. I think I should probably just wait, but I was really skilled in wow pre-TBC and TBC I was okay, but with a do nothing guild.

I just remember the good times, and boy it was fun, I wasn't geared 100% @ 60 where I would of liked. But I definitly had great gear at that time, and boy, could I take on 3+ horde np. And I was mainly focused on raiding, so I dunno, just would like to comeback and find WoW better then I left it.

I hear that gearing up is easier now, 10 mans and 25 mans are the norm? So I hope that I could get into the swing of things pretty easy. I've lead pretty decent sized groups into instances before, nothing like the 40 man raids of before. Anyhow, I knew my stuff, hopefully I would of had more people that knew the status of WoW and give a more positive view. But I guess it's the same ol' junk from before, I spose, unless others have a different opinion.

I'm not going to do Warhammer or Guildwars, not my thing, I've played GW but still.

Re: Is it worth it to get back into wow?

hate to break it to you vern, but that wasnt skill at lvl 60. WoW is a fairly bad example of how to balance an rpg game for PvP. Its better today, and dual spec in 3.1 will allow people who want to pvp to finally run around with the talents they want and not effect their PvE game. But in classic azeroth, classes were clearly cookie cutter like, with some classes, hunter being one of them, being fairly over powered. Those were the days eh? When hunters could aim shot you for almost half your health while stealthed, and rogues could kill you while you crouched over stun locked.

It appears the more blizzard balanced classes, the less you could take advantage of the imbalances. If this is the case, I would stay far away, for 3.1 brings pvp talents to trees once saught to be PvE only like warrior/prot and priest/holy. Arena should be very very interesting this season.
