Still freezing for me on my 8600M GT, I stay with the 180.29.

Re: Official 180.44 driver released
@erusul: which release do you mean by '[the] previous driver version'? The open-source parts of the 180.37 and 180.44 Linux graphics driver releases are identical; the closed-source does not reference Linux specific symbols.

Re: Official 180.44 driver released
@erusul: this most likely is a problem with your kernel source tree, rather than with the 180.44 NVIDIA Linux graphics driver release - the only change to the open-source Linux kernel interface layer between 180.29 and 180.44 was an update to use del_timer_sync() instead of del_timer() in nv.c:nv_stop_rc_timer().

Re: Official 180.44 driver released
This version seems to work well for me. The previous .37 and .41 versions were producing some random blocks on various HD clips which had previously played faultlessly with the earlier drivers. These were showing up with both mplayer and xine so seemed to be driver related. I was also getting problems where broken streams would freeze X completely. All these symptoms seem to have been fixed with the new version. Thanks to all concerned.
