nVidia nforce ethernet card does not work

Hi,

I installed RHEL 5.0 on my laptop that has nVidia nforce ethernet card. Its not working and allowing me to assign any IP address. I am not able to connect my laptops onto my LAN.

Please let me know if I need to install any specific driver to enable it.

Thanks
Siva

Check if the kernel modules for your nforce chipset are there, see here.

What do you see with ifconfig ?
Also, check your NIC under /sys, e.g. /sys/class/net/eth0

Hi ,

I do not see eth0 under the path /sys/class/net

After installing the nforce Drivers, http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_nforce_1.23.html
it does not enable ethernet.

Please suggest.

Thanks
Siva

Use the drivers with your kernel. Try loading forcedeth .
