180.50 = broken kdm (kde 3.5.10)

I have nvidia 7400 Go
after successful installation of 180.50 I could not get into kdm window (I have kde 3.5.10 installed). With 189.19 kdm works fine

Is there any way to fix this?

Thank you

What does "I could not get into kdm window" mean? X doesn't start or kdm_greet takes forever to start?

Can you post your xorg.log?

I have the same

Debian Sid 32-bit
Kernel 2.6.29-1
KDE 4.2.2
Intel Core Duo Yonah T2300
NVidia GeForece Go 7600

180.44 works just fine.

With 180.50 KDM is broken but after logging in, KDE4 works fine.

do you know what kdm is?
If X would not start, I would say that X does not start. Because X starts, I doubt that X.log will help.

Unfortunately, a regression in 180.50 causes this driver release to fail on GPUs older than the GeForce 8 series. We apologize for this and hope to provide an updated driver either today or early next week. In the meantime, please see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...50&postcount=7 for a partial workaround.

zander has already answered ;)

While I know what kdm is, it looks like you don't know at all.

KDM's binary function is to start X server, then kdm_greet login manager. KDM is a very simple C application and in your case it is kdm_greet which doesn't start.

In your case I'd suggest running kdm this way (from runlevel 3):

kdm -debug 0x185 -nodaemon -error /dev/stdout

or even -debug 0x985
