- Fixed an X server crash when viewing the website www.tim.it.
Now I use 180.51 and Firefox crashes same as on 177.82.
How can I believe that anything has been fixed?

because it just works ?

(at least on my system ;) )

could you post some more specs of your system ?

are you really running Fedora Core 4 ?

afaik last time I ran a kernel with grsecurity support I had an significant higher rate of firefox crashing:

try disabling flash (-> flashblock) perhaps the crash is triggered by that

Is your whole X server crashing, or just Firefox? The release highlight in question was about X server crashes.

Re: www.tim.it

kernel 2.6.29.1-grsec
nVidia Go 7400
nvidia driver 180.51
firefox 3.0.6

www.tim.it does not crash neither X nor ff.
You may have
1) different hardware (but I would assume that 7300 and 7400 are close enough)
2) different grsec config
3) different firefox plugins

easiest to check are plugins of course

I have Firefox 2.0.0.20. I disabled all plugins and ff still crash.

Re: www.tim.it

So firefox crashed and not the X server? In other words, the original quote is correct, and they did fix an X server crash.

Try to reproduce this with

- A different driver (vesa or nv)
- A different browser

in order to find out where the problem lies.

no,
move ~/.mozilla to ~/mozilla
then run ff and open
www.tim.it

you may also consider upgrading firefox

Works here as well with Konqueror and Firefox using QT 4.6. from qit.

In fact everything is working great!
