VDPAU: bug in the drivers?

Hi

Was rather puzzled with this file as for why it wouldn't play in mythtv with VDPAU, yet some people reported that it played fine for them.

Drivers 185.18.14

http://www.sendspace.com/file/izsffg

With a 9400 IGP (gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H), 32 bits ubuntu
NVIDIA GPU GeForce 9400 (C79) at PCI:2:0:0 (GPU-0)

In mythtv, the video just shows a greyish screen. In mplayer it plays extremely slowly, unusable.

Yet, with a 8600GT, 256MB, 64 bits ubuntu
NVIDIA GPU GeForce 8600 GT (G84) at PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0)

It plays perfectly in mythtv...

Driver bug ?

Hello,

It is the one who record and upload the file.

My environments are
Driver: 180.51
HW: 9400 IGP(gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H)
OS: 64bit Ubuntu (both 8.10 and 9.04)

MythTV svn trunk gives garbled screen.
MPlayer svn plays in slow motion.

Did you try mplayer -mc 2 ?

Mind you, I've tested that this behaviour depends on the graphic card you are using.
It doesn't display properly with a 9400 IGP ; but display properly with a 8600GT or a 9500GT

It is better, but still video is too slow and the audio/video isn't sync and the gap keeps increasing.

Can you please upload this file to the NVIDIA file-drop (see VDPAU bug reporting sticky). I can't access file downloading sites from work any more. Thanks.

with "-mc 2" here, video is overall at normal speed.
but look at the clock at the top right corner in the video, it is not even speed,
some time faster some time slower.
I haven't check audio.

It works fine for me and while "uneven" speed is not unlikely, increasing gap is.

I tested this on a G98 card with VDPAU and it basically appears to play fine. I do see the clock running at an uneven speed, but this happens with Xv output and SW decode too; I think it's just the way the stream is encoded, or the way the video really was generated/broadcast.

using mplayer? with -mc?
Could you have any chance to test it on 9400 and mythtv?

Thanks

David
