Error when calling vdp_device_create_x11

4 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I post on the forum for the problem : Error when calling vdp_device_create_x11

I try the search fonction but she gave me nothing.

So, here is the problem, everytime i try to read a video (or just using vdpau), he don't work, I have no crashe, no freeze, it just dont work.

I try'd to use different codec, from samples given by the readme

MPEG: Sample MPG
H.264: Sample H264
WMV3: Sample WMV
VC-1: Sample.vc1

Every one of them dont work.
So I've tried different player :
mplayer-svn
myth-tv-svn
VLC
XDMC-svn

I run
Code:

cat /etc/lsb-release

DISTRIB_RELEASE=9.04

DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 9.04"

Kernel
Code:

uname -a

Code:

Here is the output from Konsole

Re: Error when calling vdp_device_create_x11

Thanks for the extensive information.

I believe your problem is described in this thread: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=130690

However, to confirm this, can you please set the following environment variable before running MPlayer:

export VDPAU_NVIDIA_DEBUG=3

and post the complete output of MPlayer (and please add the "-v" option to the MPLayer command-line) Thanks.

Re: Error when calling vdp_device_create_x11

No, your issue appears to be something different to that thread.

How did you install the NVIDIA drivers? The error "0 5338" from your MPlayer log doesn't match up with driver version 180.60; did you install the NVIDIA driver from both the NVIDIA .run file, and also your distribution's package management system? If you did, then those two installation methods can conflict with each-other and cause problems. Please uninstall the driver via all methods you used to install it, reboot, and install the drivers again.

Thanks.

So, I remove all nvidia drivers, using

Code:

sudo apt-get install remove 'nvidia-'
and removed the manual installed drivers with

Code:

sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-180.60-pkg1.run --uninstall
Then reboot

login to the console mode,
stopping kdm desktop (/etc.init.d/kdm stop)
instaling the latest NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run
starting kdm desktop (/etc.init.d/kdm start)

and I try :

You cannot use a video filter with -vc ffh264vdpau (and the other hardware accelerated decoders)!
Please remove "pp=ac" from ~/.mplayer/config and/or MPEGIO3MBPS30sec.mpg.conf.
