nvidia physx card.
 

As i plan on always buying the best single GFX card i can afford because im not a huge sli fan i thought why not buy a physx card, What would be the best/cheapest card to buy i can use for a nvidia physx only card that i can use now but but i could also use as a physx card when the next gen-cards come out?

Is the price vs performance worth it?

Any suggestions?

I'd recommend 8800GT and newer. I actually have a older 8800GTS 640 but I am not really keen on using it because of the extra heat it will create and the result will not be huge.

Hmm, Im hearing good things about using a dedicated physx card in the new batman demo!

So guys i have the option to buy a 8800GT 512MB for £30 from a mate, I was going to use it as a decicated physx card. What do you reckon? Is it worth doing?

It'll be decent, but you have to be careful of your power supply. I'm not sure if your 580W PSU can handle another video card with all that other hardware its already powering. I got a 9600 GT low-power edition (doesn't require an extra power connector from the PSU for my PhysX needs).

Yip im aware of that ... I can get a nearly new OCZ Stealth XStream 600W to do me over for close to nothing, Reckon that would be enough?

I killed some of my drives using a gtx260 and 8800gt for physx with a Hiper 580w PSU even with a VGA PSU.
If the numbers for that 600w OCZ don't add up get a 750w instead.


Looks like theres only 2x 6pins on it anyway, Thats not a good sign...

Dont really have the funds at the moment to splash out £90 for a new psu ... Especially now that i have just spend £490 on new memory, motherboard and cpu, The wife will go mental lol.

I did plan in a few months time on getting a good branded 1000w+ psu.

The 600w OCZ was gonna be free ... Well a straight swapp with my psu.
