Windows Explorer Starting On Boot

It wasn't always this way, but now when I boot the OS, W.E. automatically opens a window. I have gone trough the startup items in msconfig and the start menu's startup folder and haven't found anything related to it. Anyone have any ideas as to how to control this?

I'm running IE8...so that doesn't really apply.

I plan on reformatting in a month so hopefully it'll go away

Did you at least look for the registry key?

I did look for the key, and there wasn't anything named DesktopProcess within that key. I the problem has the same nature of origin, it won't be located by the key in that article.

After looking at this link, I'm a bit confused, because where the article in your previous post said the ensure that there were no single (") within a key, the article of the second post said to make sure that there were no double (") within the key. Somehow, it doesn't seem likely that both are correct.

I went ahead and ran a general search with regedit, and found the key mentioned in the first article, at just a slightly different location. The thing is that the DesktopProcess folder contains quite a few lines, and I'm not sure which, if any should be deleted:

Re: Windows Explorer Starting On Boot

I found my problem. I hadn't paid any attention to exactly where Explorer had been opening to, so when I found that it was opening to the location of a program folder in the Start Menu's Startup folder, I uninstalled that program and it's startup folder and Explorer is now behaving.

Even though the links didn't directly provide the solution, they did put me on the right track.
