GTX260M, GTX280M nvidia-drivers-190.42-r3 - powermizer issue
Hi! I'm having some trouble with an Nvidia 260 GTX, in fact I can only use the first 2 level of powermizer and can't switch to 3d frequencies. I've read other thread on this forum and seems a common issue of powermizer with some nvidia card but I can't find confirmation that the problem is persistent in 190.43-r3.
Nvidia-settings correctly find the AC-adapter connected, nvclock or dwords in xorg.conf don't solve the problem. Any information or idea? Thanks Gio |

Re: 260GTX nvidia-drivers-190.42-r3 - powermizer issue
Pretty much same for me. I'm using 280M GTX. Card is capable of 583/950 and runs at 275/301. Powermizer is set up to "Maximum Performance" mode.
Honestly I've never seen this feature work - is there any way of completely disabling it?? |

Re: 260GTX nvidia-drivers-190.42-r3 - powermizer issue
It seems strange that we are only two having this kind of problem.
Anyone who has one of the newer Nvidia video card could please verify the proper functioning of PowerMizer and the swich to 3d frequencies? In the meantime, while no one can confirm the correct functioning, could be useful to report that such video cards as partially supported by driver ... just to not deceive buyers of over 200$ piece of hardware ;) |
Re: 260GTX nvidia-drivers-190.42-r3 - powermizer issue
In my case $3200 (as it's a laptop card) and can't rip it off that easily ^^ But well it will work one day, so I'm not so worried.

Re: 260GTX nvidia-drivers-190.42-r3 - powermizer issue
Even my laptop is a Clevo (unbranded) but I don't think that's the problem... It's driver issue.
I hope not to meet us here again in the next release ... Would mean that everything is ok ;) PS: Congrats on the "little monster"... seen the bug report! |
Re: 260GTX nvidia-drivers-190.42-r3 - powermizer issue
I've filed a bug report for both your issues.

Thanks Stephen for going an extra mile!
Much appreciated. |
Re: 260GTX nvidia-drivers-190.42-r3 - powermizer issue
Can you please try 180.60. A fix was made for a similar issue in that release. I'm curious whether 180.60's fix actually worked and this got broken again at some later time, or whether the fix was not complete.
Thanks. |
Re: 260GTX nvidia-drivers-190.42-r3 - powermizer issue
As for me I have to downgrade many packages because by now I have x11-base/xorg-server-1.7.1 and nvidia-drivers-180 doesn't compile over this.
Xorg-server-1.6.5 is required I think to succesfully compile 180.60. I have no time until friday, unless queen6 has not time before, I'll give a try. gio |
Re: 260GTX nvidia-drivers-190.42-r3 - powermizer issue
exactly the same here. I'll downgrade xorg from 7.5 to 7.4 and let you know.
on the side note - there's a different issue when laptop is on battery: Code:
