GTX 470 Sli

Ok just wanted to start a new thread for users that has 470 sli setup, since cards are now shipping. I like to see more benchmark and users experience with this setup. :jammin:

That is a pretty sweet looking Rig you have there. What made your mind up to get 3 x 470's instead of 2 x 480's.

Fair enough. It should perform really well though.

It actually makes more sense to go 3 GTX470's in triple SLI,rather than a pair of GTX480's in terms of bang for the buck, since the user gets a third GPU for more or less the same money as 2 GTX480's,and the total power use isn't much more for a triple GTX470,compared to a dual GTX480,with heat issues also being less of a problem as well.

The user might very get more overall GPU power that way as long as the game/benchmark scales well in Multi GPU setups.

If the performance is there, then yes. Only reason I asked was because in general, 3 cards don't tend to scale as well as two.

multi card scaling from the benchmarks I've seen are performing best on the fermi series, better than the GTX 285 and Ati's Xfire on their 5000 series. if you are eventually going 3dvision surround with or without the 3d, I would say tri-sli wouldn't be a waste this time. but the heat will be a major problem if you go with the 480.

Yes, you are quite right there. I am interested to see the performance difference between Tri 470's compared to 2x 480.

I erased this post as I was pretty drunk last night.
