Because KDE > GNOME.

I've never seemed to be able to keep it stable (KDE) vs never an issue with Gnome. Granted it's been over 2 years since trying it, but I got tired of the crashes. Personal preference I guess.

I don't know what this has to do with NVidia support.... but anyway...

You shouldn't never try KDE with Kubuntu. It's said to be one of the worst distros (between the most known ones) to package KDE.
Try openSUSE instead, or Arch.

This section is for Linux support....not just nVidia support.

I don't see why not, just use the Hardware Manager and install the recommended driver.

If i have chosen a bad version , then open to suggestions on something better. I have installed on seperate disk so issue reinstalling with new distro.
Let me know what you guys think.

I am not mucking about here, just bored with windows even though i like it and need it, want to expand my horizons.
thanks

Distro heaven, dl links, versions etc.
http://distrowatch.com/

I found Debian to be extremely stable, using the 'testing' branch, excellent distro to learn on.

I was also very impressed with Fedora Core - 11 is the last version I tried for home use, very smooth and had not one crash.

I've also heard good things about Mint linux and had quite a bit of fun with PCLinuxOS.

pretty much anything you want is available on distrowatch, including links to home pages etc. Have fun Drol :)
